Health Data and Policy  Analysis

Statistical Consulting

Social & Scientific Systems has a successful track record in providing statistical programming and consulting support to our clients. Our support includes publishing reliable and reproducible data and tables in peer-reviewed journals, reports to Congress, conference proceedings, chart books, methodology reports, and research finding reports as well as online statistical briefs.

Scientific collaboration.

Our senior statistical programmers and epidemiologists work closely with our clients to assess the scientific content of various health data sets and determine clear and concise research objectives. We then collaborate with the scientists or analysts in designing appropriate analyses of the pertinent data files to address the hypothesis that is being analyzed. Click on Health Data Analysis Major Projects (PDF) for additional information concerning our current major projects, in particular, those that support the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).

Original research.

Several of our staff are involved in original research efforts. They prepare detailed reports of the scientific findings arising from their own and collaborative research efforts. The reports include a discussion of the pertinent published research and a scientific assessment of the meaning and significance of the analysis results as they pertain to current knowledge about the topic. We are adept at developing the supporting tables and the graphic presentations for the research and publications. In addition, we have several staff members working directly with our clients to support research efforts at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Administration on Aging (AoA), and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).

Published technical reports.

Social & Scientific Systems has supported hundreds of publications for our clients. Services we provide include literature review, study design, data analysis, interpretation of results, presentation of results, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. Often these activities support presentations for professional meetings, such as the annual meetings of Academy Health or the American Public Health Association. Presentations are often expanded into being published by a professional journal. Recently, a staff member was recognized as being a coauthor on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Paper of the Year.
